1 November 2026

#superannuation#member

As of 1 November 2026, Stewarda Pty Ltd (AFSL 236049 RSE Licence L0000185) (Stewarda) is the new trustee of the Smart Future Trust – the fund that Future Super is a part of.

It's an important change to how our fund is governed, so here's what you need to know, why it's happening and what it means for you and your super.

First, what's a trustee?

Every super fund has a trustee. It's the organisation legally responsible for overseeing the fund and making sure it's run in the best financial interests of members.

That includes overseeing how the fund operates, making important decisions about its management, managing risk and ensuring it meets its legal and regulatory obligations.

In short, a trustee has an important job: looking out for members and their retirement savings.

So, who is Stewarda?

Stewarda is a superannuation trustee company.

Here are all the technical details: Stewarda is part of the Future Group of Companies which comprises Future Group Australia Holdings Pty Ltd ABN 68 618 367 927, the parent entity of the group and its subsidiaries (Future Group). Future Super Services Pty Ltd ABN 88 652 577 930, the promoter of Future Super, is also part of Future Group.

Stewarda is chaired by Jeremy Cooper, a respected superannuation industry leader who previously served as Deputy Chair of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and chaired the Australian Government's Super System Review. Jeremy is also passionate about climate change and has publicly advocated for climate action in financial services.

Stewarda also has a majority independent board - which includes Keri Pratt, Shailendra Singh, Virginia Malley, Lee Brennan Sharon Davis (non-independent) - bringing experience and independent oversight to decisions about members' super.

Why is the trustee changing?

Having a dedicated trustee allows for more focused governance by supporting closer alignment between fund governance, operations and long-term planning.

And while the trustee is changing, our commitment to sustainable super remains.

Future Super has been helping Australians invest in industries built for the future since 2014. We believe that building long-term retirement savings and backing a more sustainable world can go hand in hand.

What does this mean for your super?

Stewarda has taken on the legal responsibilities of trustee from 1 November 2026, including oversight of the fund and its obligations to members.

You also don’t need to do anything as a result of this change. Any existing communications you have with the trustee will continue as normal after the change.

We know your super is one of your biggest investments, and you deserve to understand who's responsible for looking after it.

That's why we're sharing this change with you.
