Why did I receive a Significant Event Notice about changes affecting my account?

That important notice we sent you (issued April 2025) was to let you know about big changes coming soon that will bring you more investment choice, lower total costs, and a new coaching offer for financial advice through your super! Learn more here.

What's happening?

Behind the scenes at super funds, money is invested through investment structures called funds or trusts. Future Super is transferring from the Future Super Fund to the Smart Future Trust via something called a successor fund transfer. Basically, the investment structure is being set up to make everything more efficient so we can pass on cost savings to members. Immediately after the transfer, members will have total lower fees, access to a broader menu of investment options and our in-house financial coaching service.

What is not changing – and we can’t stress this enough – is Future Super’s values. We remain committed to climate action. The investments in your super have the same ethical investment screens, including screening out fossil fuel companies, tobacco companies and weapons manufacturers.

Future Super’s focus on sustainability isn’t going anywhere, your money is still invested for a future worth retiring into.

So what do I need to do?

You need to do one important thing: forward a letter to your employer informing them of Future Super’s new details. You can find the letter here.

Why? As part of the transfer, our unique superannuation identifier (USI) is changing. That’s the number that tells employers which fund to pay superannuation guarantee payments to for their employees. This number is essential to make sure your super ends up in the right place.

While we work through the changes, some services will be temporarily unavailable. We’ve put all the key dates and frequently asked questions on our website. Reach out to our team if you still have any questions.
